Gary Eisenstat, a seasoned Dallas-based trial lawyer and blown glass artist, is driven by his passion in both arenas. His love for and fascination with glass, which began as a collector, later morphed into becoming a glass artisan after he received an anniversary gift to try his hand at blowing glass. Eisenstat is as enthralled with the process and challenges of creation as he is with the final piece. Blowing glass allows and commands that one be completely present, focused, and fully engaged with the material. For Eisenstat, blowing glass also evokes moments of healing, as the glass morphs and transforms from raw materials into a finished form.

His art work explores the constantly changing interplay among light, color, and form, creating pieces that both captivate the eye and seek to evoke a sense of beauty, depth, and transformation. He often draws his inspiration from organic patterns and the vibrant hues found in nature—the symphony of colors from fall leaves, the vast shades of blues in the ocean waters, the purples of a late evening sky, among others.

Eisenstat’s creations transcend mere aesthetic appeal, embodying a harmonious fusion of form and function. Through a delicate and intuitive process, he transforms molten glass into shapes that seek to capture the changing essence of light and movement. The resulting works are luminous and dynamic, inviting viewers to engage with them from multiple perspectives and discover the subtle nuances that define their colors, character, and constant dance with the change in light that surround them.

Through his vision and craftsmanship, he continues to push the boundaries of what is possible with glass, creating works that resonate with beauty, complexity, and a timeless elegance.

Eisenstat is eternally grateful to @DallasGlassArt and the Corning Museum of Glass for providing the space to create, train, and hone his talents. As glass blowing is a “team sport,” Eisenstat is thankful for the opportunity to have worked with so many of the country’s finest glass artisans.
